This is a virtual course!

This class fulfills the current 12-hour requirement for adoption approval of foster parents who were trained in STARS to become approved as an adoptive resource.  Please note, all individuals on the license must complete the course to apply for Adoption Approval.  Completion of the training does not guarantee Adoption Approval. 

We will meet four consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, beginning February 21, 2023 and ending March 14, 2023.  You must attend all four sessions to receive the 12 hours of credit for this class.  No partial credit will be given.  

This training covers the adoption process, common issues in adoption, as well as practical ways to address challenges.   If you are interested in taking this course, you need to have your licensing worker register you.

Family Training Specialist

Janice Byrd

Janice is a Family Training Specialist at FosterAdopt Connect. She has a bachelor’s degree in social work. Janice has over twenty-five years’ experience in the child welfare field, working with both foster/adoptive and birth parents. She and her husband were licensed foster parents for twelve years and are adoptive parents. Janice has provided numerous trainings for foster and adoptive parents.
