Description:

This Hybrid Support Group for foster, adoptive, guardianship and kinship providers will meet the first Tuesday of the Month at  the Chillicothe Branch Office (301 Cowgill St, Chillicothe, MO 64601) or via Zoom.  We will meet from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (CTS) for training and from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM (CTS) for support.

Being a caregiver for children in foster care is a deeply rewarding but emotionally demanding journey. The constant giving of time, energy, and emotional support—often to children who have experienced trauma—can lead to compassion fatigue, a form of caregiver stress that affects your health, relationships, and effectiveness as a foster parent. This training is designed specifically for foster parents to help you recognize the early warning signs of compassion fatigue, understand its unique impact in the foster care context, and learn practical tools to protect your emotional well-being while continuing to care for children with love and resilience. Upon completion you will receive 2 hours credit.
