Get to know other Foster Parents in our area and build a support network so that we can support one another.  The SEMO Foster Parent Support Group generally meets IN PERSON on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the FosterAdopt Connect Cape Girardeau Branch Office.  We meet from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM for training and from 6:00 to 7:00 PM (CST) for support.

Training Topic: Supporting Connections for Reunification

Preserving children's connections with biological parents, siblings and other important people in their life is fundamental in facilitating reunification.   Join us as we discuss practical ways to support these important connections. Upon completion you will earn 2 hours of training credit.

Advocate/Trainer

Jason Hollingsworth

I'm Jason Hollingsworth, and I am the advocate and trainer for the Cape Girardeau branch of FosterAdopt Connect. As an advocate, I work with biological, foster, and adoptive families as they navigate the challenges that come with the child welfare system. As a trainer, I facilitate course work for obtaining and maintaining state licensing. And I will begin hosting support groups in hopes to provide a local community of foster parents to learn from and encourage one another. I live in Jackson with my wife, and our two children. We adopted our oldest child through fostering, and I understand the ups and downs of working toward the best outcome for the children involved. My experience ignited a passion for advocating for those affected by the child welfare system, and I look forward to using that to work with each of my families.
