Description:

This class will be about building a positive rapport with foster children from all different backgrounds, experiences, and ages that come into our homes, and our hearts. We never know just how long we will have with these kiddos, so it is very important to build the best connections with these kids as soon as they enter our homes. We will learn about the critical tasks, and skills required to engage these children. As well as learning how to increase commitment, and a positive lasting connection. Our goal is to develop a supportive healing relationship between foster caregivers, and the youth in their homes. Youth have their own work to do in growth, and healing; your role as a foster parent is to consistently create the environment for them to feel safe enough to do their work. We will share ideas on how to create that safe environment, and become a more intentional parent.

This class will be IN PERSON on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 6-8:00 PM at the Poplar Bluff branch (2198 N. Westwood Blvd, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.  Upon completion you will receive 2 hours of training credit.
